Joan’s passion is children, and she feels her greatest strength is creating school climates where staff, parents, the community and most importantly the students feel safe, valued, supported and most of all, ...loved. Joan feels that if one is to accept the position of leadership, one must have a vision that drives the energy of an organization. Her vision is of an ideal school and school district where there are options for students to learn in a variety of ways, an artful leadership that can help students identify how they learn best, instill a love of learning, the courage to take chances, and a healthy respect for the uniqueness of each fellow student. The school climate needs to be safe, nurturing and supportive of individual differences and rich in learning opportunities.
